Should I insure an older cat?
I just adopted a senior cat (he's around 10) and I'm trying to figure out what makes the most sense for covering his vet care. I know older cats usually need more attention at the vet, and I can afford to pay for his appointments and treatments as they come up.
But I'm stuck between two options should I get pet insurance or just put money aside each month in a savings account specifically for him? Part of me thinks insurance would be smart in case something big happens, like he needs surgery or develops a chronic condition. But then again, the premiums for an older cat are probably going to be pretty high, and they might not even cover some condition he already has.
For anyone with senior cats, what did you end up doing? Did insurance feel worth it, or did you just save up and pay as you go? I just want to make sure I'm doing right by him without making a dumb financial decision.
