When your cat suddenly changes behaviour, how long do you wait before going to the vet?

Last week my cat stopped sitting on my lap, which she normally does every evening. At first I thought she was just being moody, but it's been five days now and she's still avoiding it. She's eating fine, drinking normally, using the litter tray - everything else seems completely normal.

But this one change has me worried. Is it worth a vet visit for something so minor, or am I overreacting? I keep remembering a story someone told me about their cat acting slightly off and it turned out to be something serious they'd caught early. But I also don't want to be that person dragging their cat to the vet every time they do something slightly different. How do you decide what's worth investigating

Five days is long enough to notice a pattern. Don’t wait for real symptoms; this is a symptom. Go.
