I Own Too Many Breakables to Have a Cat
You never really know how many fragile things you own until you adopt a cat.

I used to think my apartment was pretty safe, minimalist even, but suddenly everything looks like a potential crash site. Vases, picture frames, ceramic mugs on open shelves, even my skincare jars… nothing is off-limits.

I turned around for two seconds yesterday and heard the sound of glass meeting the tile. Yep. My grandmother’s tiny perfume bottle didn’t stand a chance. I guess this is my official welcome to cat parenthood.

How do you all deal with cats who think shelves are runways? Do I bubble-wrap my life or just accept that gravity is now my cat’s co-conspirator?

I totally understand. It’s tough at first, but over time, you naturally start cat-proofing your space without even realising it. Now my shelves are minimalist by force, not choice.
