Anyone else feel photography pressure while travelling?
I had about 8,000 photos on my phone from two years of travelling. I kept them all thinking I'd organise them, edit them, and post them eventually. They just sat there making me feel guilty every time I scrolled past. One day, I just deleted them all. Kept maybe 50 favourites and wiped the rest.
I had immediate relief. I stopped feeling guilty of the content I could make whenever I looked at the pictures, and I didn't feel the pressure to document everything for an audience.
Now I take maybe 5 photos per day instead of 500. I actually remember the experiences instead of vaguely recalling taking photos of them. My camera roll is manageable, and I feel better mentally.
Photography should enhance travel, not dominate it. But somewhere along the way, I let it become a job instead of simply capturing the moment.
