Blue’s Feathered Farewell
Blue was a majestic Hyacinth macaw, gentle, goofy, and full of charm. For twelve years, he had been Sarah’s constant companion, following her everywhere, even perching beside her during Zoom calls.
But as Blue grew older, his energy faded. One quiet morning, Sarah found Blue resting peacefully, wings tucked, head low. She whispered his name. He looked up, blinked once, and let out one soft whistle, the same one he used to say, “I’m okay.” Blue passed away in her arms. Weeks later, Sarah still reached for his treats. Still looked at the perch. Still missed that silly whistle.
One day, while scrolling through old videos, she played one. Blue’s voice rang out, “Pretty bird! I love you!” She cried, laughed, and whispered, “I love you too, Blue.”
Sometimes, love has wings and even when they’re gone, the echo stays.
