Teaching your parrot to talk: start with love, not pressure

Parrots are natural mimics, but talking isn’t guaranteed, it’s learned through trust and repetition. Start with a word your bird hears often, like “hello” or their name. Speak clearly and cheerfully. Say it during routines, feeding, cleaning, play. Parrots associate words with actions and emotions.

Keep sessions short and fun. Reward any sound, not just words. The more they feel included, the more they’ll try. Patience is key, some parrots talk in weeks, others take months.

But even if they never speak, their body language will tell you plenty.
