First-time cat parent and need help with her heat cycle. Any tips on how to help her (and me) get through this?

I'm a first-time cat parent, and my girl just went into heat. I wasn't prepared at all. I've tried catnip, extra cuddles, and playtime, but nothing seems to calm her down. She just keeps yowling non-stop.

Please keep her indoors. Even if you’re not planning to spay yet, keep her inside. Male cats will come from miles away. And she may try to escape. Mine almost jumped off a balcony once.
