CatsI spayed my cat and now I feel enormous guilt
It's done, she's spayed, and it's over with. But I feel guilty. Like I was selfish and didn't consider her in the decision.
Has anyone felt that way? Please, can you advise me on how to deal with this?

Sign in to commentI really relate to this. When I spayed my cat, I kept asking myself if I had stripped something vital from her. But what helped me was reframing it: I wasn’t taking something away, I was protecting her from future pain. Cats can’t consent, true, but we still have to make decisions in their best interest. And when it’s done with love and research, it’s not selfish. It’s responsible.
