How to teach your dog to 'sit'

Teaching your dog to sit isn’t just about commands, it’s about building trust. Start with treats and a calm voice. Hold a treat close to your dog’s nose, then slowly move it upward. Their head will follow, and their bottom will naturally go down. The moment they sit, praise them and give the treat. Repeat, gently and consistently. Avoid yelling or pushing. Dogs learn best when they feel safe and encouraged. A simple “sit” can be the foundation for focus, discipline, and bonding.

Nice breakdown! Teaching “sit” really is more about connection than just getting the dog to obey. Using kindness and treats makes learning fun and builds trust at the same time. It’s great to remember that patience goes a long way.
