Ruby, My Guiding Light

I lost my girl Ruby a few months ago. She had been with me since I was 16, a birthday gift from my dad, though I always said she chose me. A fluffy giant Flemish with an attitude to match her size, she hopped into my life, made herself at home on my pillow, and never left my side.

She moved out with me when I got my first apartment, curling up beside me on nights when the loneliness felt too loud (or maybe she got tired of her litter box…lol). She was there through the heartbreaks, the stress of final exams, and the countless times I sat on the floor, overwhelmed by the weight of growing up. Ruby never judged, never left, just purred, and reminded me I wasn’t alone.

Ruby wasn’t just a pet. She was my support system, my fluffy, bossy shadow who made the world feel a little less chaotic.

Losing her felt like losing a piece of myself. But I’m grateful I had her in my life for the little time I did.
