Biting Parrot? Here’s How to Gently Correct It

Parrot bites are painful, but they’re rarely “just mean.” Biting is communication. Maybe they’re scared, overstimulated, or tired of being handled. The first step? Learn their body language. Fluffed feathers, pinning eyes, or a stiff stance mean “back off.”

Don’t punish biting. Instead, step back, breathe, and give them space. Later, try positive interaction, treats, soft voice, and favorite toy. Over time, they’ll learn trust means safety, not conflict.

A parrot that feels heard is less likely to scream, or bite.
