DogsHow my dog taught me to be consistent
When I first started training Buddy, I didn’t realize how much dogs depend on routine. One day, I’d let him jump on the couch. The next, I’d tell him to get down. I thought it didn’t matter, but it did.
He’d tilt his head, confused. Some days he’d listen, other days he wouldn’t. It wasn’t because he was stubborn; it was because I was inconsistent.
So I started sticking to a schedule. Walks at the same time, feeding at the same time, same rules every day. Slowly, Buddy began to relax.
He stopped testing boundaries because he finally understood them.
It made me realize, dogs don’t just need structure, they find comfort in it. And maybe we’re the same. Consistency builds trust, whether it’s between people or between you and your dog.
