Step on her tail? "Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry. Are you okay?"
Accidentally wake her up? "I didn’t mean to! Please forgive me!"
Move her from her chair? "I swear, I had no choice!"
Meanwhile, if I bump into an actual human, all they get is a quick "My bad."
I think my cat has me trained.

Sign in to commentI totally get this. Animals don’t have the same way of processing our actions, so I feel this weird responsibility to over-communicate my love and regret. Especially since they can’t talk back, the apology feels more important.
