Every time I book a vet appointment, I'm calculating in my head how much it's going to cost before I even get there. Even for a routine checkup. I love my cat more than anything, but the financial anxiety around keeping her healthy is something I wasn't prepared for when I got her. Does it get easier, or is this just part of being a responsible cat owner?

Sign in to commentI used to beat myself up about it, thinking I wasn’t a “good” cat parent if I couldn’t afford every test. But someone once told me that doing your best is responsible pet ownership.
