Other PetsThe Biting Problem: Parrot Parenting 101
If you’re dealing with a parrot who likes to bite, you’re not alone. When my parrot first joined our family, he loved to nibble, especially when he was frustrated.
At first, I didn’t know how to handle it. But over time, I learned that the key was consistency and redirection. Every time he bit, I would calmly but firmly say ‘no’ and offer him a toy instead. With time, he got the message.
Now, he’s much more likely to go for a chew toy than my finger. It’s a journey, but patience and positive reinforcement work wonders.
