CatsMy cat knows when I'm sad
I don’t know how she does it, but she knows. On days when I’m feeling down, she’s suddenly extra clingy. She’ll curl up next to me, press her tiny paws against my arm, and just sit there like she’s saying, "I got you."
She doesn’t try to distract me, doesn’t demand attention—she just stays. And somehow, that quiet presence makes everything feel a little bit lighter. It’s funny how a creature that doesn’t speak my language can understand me better than most people.
Cats are magic.

Sign in to commentI’ve actually done some reading on this as a vet tech." Cats can pick up on subtle behavioural changes in our posture, tone of voice, and even scent changes due to stress hormones. While they may not understand “sadness” the way we do, they can definitely sense when something is off. And because many cats form strong emotional bonds with their humans, they often respond with comforting behaviours like staying close, grooming us, or just being still.
