Teaching my dog to wait for food was harder than I thought

When I first tried teaching my dog to wait for his food, it felt impossible.

The moment I put the bowl down, he would jump, bark, and dive right in like he hadn’t eaten in days.

I started small, holding the bowl and waiting until he sat. The first few tries were chaos. He whined, pawed at me, and even tried sneaking around.

But little by little, he got it. I praised him when he stayed calm, and over time he learned that waiting meant the food always came.

Now, he sits patiently, staring up at me, waiting for the “okay.” Watching him show that kind of self-control feels amazing, and honestly, it taught me patience too.
