How do you handle separation anxiety?

Lately, I’ve noticed my dog gets super anxious every time I leave the house. Even just picking up my keys makes him pace and whine. When I come back, he’s either chewed something up or left a mess by the door.

I’ve tried calming music, leaving him with a toy, and even short practice departures. Nothing seems to help for long. It breaks my heart seeing him stressed like this, but I also can't stay home all day.

Has anyone here dealt with this kind of separation anxiety before? What worked for your dog? I’m open to tips, routines, or anything that helped you ease your dog’s stress when you’re away.

I just want to make it easier for both of us.
