CatsI want to get a cat.......
So, l'm trying to convince my mom to get a cat cause dogs are harder to take care of. Pet owners, I need your advice. What's a good hypoallergenic cat that's ok with being home alone for a bit and is easy to train Also it has to be a people cat because my mom had a bad experience with a mean cat when she was a kid.

Rescue centres usually let you spend time with them first, and that’s a great way to see if their vibe matches your mom’s comfort level.
Totally agree with everything you said! Russian Blues and Balinese are both amazing picks, especially for people who’ve had a rough experience with cats in the past. They are the kind of cats that really choose their humans and stick close. Also love the idea of introducing her to a friendly cat in real life. Sometimes all it takes is one sweet encounter to undo years of fear.
Try a Russian Blue. They are known to be gentle, low-shedding, and pretty independent. Mine is super affectionate but also totally fine being alone when I'm at work
I totally get where you're coming from! Convincing a parent to get a pet can be tricky, but a well-chosen cat might just win your mom over. Based on what you’re looking for, I'd recommend a Russian Blue or a Balinese. Russian Blues and Balinese cats produce less of the allergen (Fel d 1) that causes reactions, making them good options for allergy-sensitive households. Plus, they groom themselves and don’t require frequent baths. Since your mom had a bad experience with a mean cat, you need one that loves people. Balinese cats are affectionate, playful, and enjoy interacting with humans. They’ll follow you around and even greet your mom at the door, which might help change her mind about cats! Also, maybe take her to visit a friend who has a friendly, well-behaved cat, or watch some cute cat videos together. Once she sees how loving and easygoing some cats can be, she might just say yes!
