What’s one thing you never expected about parrot life?

For me? The emotional connection.

I knew parrots were smart, I’d read all the articles, watched all the videos. But living with one? That’s a whole different level.

I didn’t expect my bird to pick up on my moods, mimic my laugh, or comfort me when I’m feeling low. There was a day I came home absolutely drained, bad news, tough day. I didn’t say much. But my parrot sat quietly on my shoulder, leaned in close, and softly repeated the word I always say to her when she’s nervous: “It’s okay.”

That moment hit me harder than I can explain.

Of course, there are surprises on the chaotic side too, like discovering that parrots don’t just make noise... they seem to perfectly time their noise. Want to meditate? That’s the cue for a full-volume opera. Phone call? Better be ready for background squawking.

But even with the mess, the moods, and the mischief, I wouldn’t trade parrot life for anything.
