Declawing isn’t just like a manicure. It’s amputation. Imagine having the tips of your fingers cut off just because someone doesn’t want scratches on their couch. That’s what declawing is. If you don’t want scratched furniture, get a scratching post. If you don’t want scratches at all, don’t get a cat.

I used to think declawing was like trimming nails. I had no idea it involved amputating part of their toes until I started volunteering at a rescue. The number of cats we got with behavioral issues after being declawed was heartbreaking—many became aggressive or stopped using the litter box due to pain. It's not just cruel; it changes who they are. Please, if you want a cat, accept the claws too.
