My Horse Chose Chaos
People say expecting the unexpected is part of being a horse owner, but nothing prepared me for the day my horse, Cameron, decided that rules didn't apply to him anymore.
The morning began like any other. With a lead line in hand, I entered the field and prepared to take him inside for breakfast. He would typically trot right up.
However, that day, he had other intentions. Cameron raised his head as I got closer, gave his ears a playful flick back, and started to gallop, not away from me, but in circles around me, just out of reach. He would pause each time I got a little closer, giving me hope, and then run off again, tail high like a ferocious wild thing. I tried treats. I tried sweet-talking. I even tried turning my back, pretending I didn’t care. Nothing worked. he was having the time of his life, after 30 minutes of this ridiculous game, I finally gave up and sat on the grass. That was when he walked right up, nuzzled my shoulder, and stood perfectly still, waiting for his halter. Sometimes he just chooses chaos for the fun of it!
