Why I finally got dog insurance and wish I’d done it sooner
I used to think dog insurance was something only overly cautious people got. I figured my pup, Milo, was healthy, and I’d just deal with vet bills if they ever came.
Then came the unexpected.
Milo ate something he shouldn’t have, I still don’t know what it was, and suddenly we were at the emergency vet at midnight. The tests, X-rays, and overnight stay added up fast. By the end of that week, I had spent over £900. All out of pocket.
It was stressful enough worrying about Milo’s health, but the financial hit made it worse.
After that, I signed up for dog insurance. Now, I pay a monthly premium that gives me peace of mind. I know that if something goes wrong, I won’t be forced to choose between my savings and my dog’s care.
I went with a plan that covers accidents, illnesses, and even some routine care. It’s not perfect, and I still pay for some things, but it’s a huge relief knowing I’m not alone in a crisis.
If you’re on the fence about insurance, I get it. But I’ve learned the hard way, it only takes one emergency to make it all worth it.
Anyone else here have dog insurance? What provider did you choose, and has it helped you? I’d love to hear your experience.
